Hearst Castle!

I've been wanting to go to Hearst Castle ever since I was a teenager and my cousin sent me a postcard from there about 20 years ago. So finally my dream has come true! Upon arrival you don't get anywhere near the castle. You can only see it far off in the distance up on a hill. We bought tickets for a tour of the ground floor and then a bus took us up the long, winding road up, up, up to the castle.
This was the Hearst family's front door. So elaborate! All the art, everywhere we turned, was so amazing too! Old tapestries and statues Mr. Hearst purchased from all over Europe!

I wish I knew the story behind this one. He has his shield beside him and a baby at his feet.

Where they ate dinner every night.

I would LOVE to swim in this pool!

There was even a whole family of mer-people!

A giant fountain! And before I finish up I have to show you this guy.

Look at what is on his feet...wings!

I love it! And finally, this is the view from the castle. We could see the ocean!

I should have gotten a better shot of the view but you can tell how amazing it is! I hope this post gives you a nice glimpse of this wonderful place if you have never seen it in person, and that you are smiling in your own private, little "castle"! (Your home, hee hee!) Taniya

  1. Hearst Castle is a place I have been wanting to visit for a long time. the winged foot statue is beautiful and so white and seems to be in perfect condition. What a very interesting place. I have enjoyed your photos.

p.s. While you're standing on the steps, it appears as though you are all wearing a giant sombrero.
